Justin Bettman is an artist born and raised in Northern California. Since photographing bands on tour at the beginning of his career, his initial engagement with pop culture grew into a characteristic theme throughout his work. In 2014 from what started as a remedy to a lack of studio space, Bettman began building elaborate tableau scenes of interior spaces on city sidewalks which he turned over to the public for their own photos post-shoot. The interactive art project, #SetintheStreet, gained momentum in Times Square and has continued to evolve as an exploration of perspective and perception internationally in Moscow, London, Berlin, and Prague. In 2018, he received the PDNs 2018 Emerging Photographer Award and has been written about in NY Mag, The Guardian, Wired, Mashable, and Adweek. Justin is currently living in NYC working as a fine art and editorial photographer.
