One of a handful of the remaining ‘original’ Times Square ballrooms, Roseland opened its original New York location on 51st Street and Broadway in 1919.  The first Roseland in Philadelphia was owned by Louis Brecker and Frank Yuengling, the owner of a Pennsylvania brewery.  In 1956, Brecker moved the facility to its current location, a converted indoor ice skating ring on West 52nd Street.  A popular dance spot throughout its lifetime, it added a disco in the seventies to keep up with the times.  The ballroom remained in the Brecker Family until 1981 when it was sold to Albert Ginsberg. It has since received further renovations but has retained traditional ballroom dancing lights and remains a tremendously popular concert venue.

Located in the heart of Times Square, Carolines on Broadway, one of America’s premier comedy nightclubs, presents the best live entertainment seven nights a week, 365 days a year. Just steps from many of the finest Broadway theaters, Carolines provides the sort of brilliant performances one has come to expect on the legendary Great White Way.

Carolines first opened as a cabaret in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood in 1981. Owner Caroline Hirsch, a lifelong comedy fan, soon began booking comedians. The comedy acts – which included now legendary performers like Jerry Seinfeld, Tim Allen, Rosie O’Donnell and Jay Leno – were a tremendous success, and Carolines soon became a full-fledged comedy club.

The relocation of Carolines to Times Square has enabled the club to present the very best comedians in a sophisticated, state-of-the-art nightclub, bringing the comedy experience to new heights. Carolines continues to present the biggest and brightest stars in entertainment, reaffirming its position as the home of The Funniest Show on Broadway.
