New Year’s  Eve organizers will conduct the annual “air worthiness test” of the confetti used for Times Square New Year’s Eve 2012 on Thursday, December 29 at 11 AM - NOON from the Times Square Alliance offices, located on the 8th floor of 1560 Broadway (Entrance at 165 W. 46th Street at 7th Avenue).   Times Square Alliance President Tim Tompkins and Countdown Entertainment President Jeffrey Straus will throw handfuls of confetti from eight stories above onto the streets of Times Square to test its airworthiness in preparation for the release of one ton of confetti -- by hand from various buildings in Times Square -- at midnight on New Year’s Eve.  Partners will also read some of the wishes placed on the New Year’s Eve Confetti Wishing Wall.

This year notable New Yorkers and stars including: Mayor Bloomberg, Robert De Niro, Jessica Biel, Matthew Broderick, Abigail Breslin, former Mayor Koch, Hot Chelle Rae, Brian Williams, Carson Daly, and B.o.B contributed personal wishes for 2012.

Each year, people from around the world write their wishes for the New Year on pieces of confetti that will descend upon the revelers in Times Square on New Year’s Eve.  So far, thousands of people from more than 50 countries have submitted a wish. The public can post wishes on the New Year’s Eve “Wishing Wall” at the Times Square Visitor Center until December 31st. Wishes can also be submitted online at www.timessquarenyc.org.

On December 31st, all of the wishes will be mixed in with the rest of the confetti and, at midnight, the million revelers in Times Square will be showered with wishes from people across the globe.
