Eighth Avenue, like the rest of Times Square, is quickly changing. The crime and decay of the past have all but vanished and the landscape continues to change. This reinvention of Eighth Avenue isn’t only happening on the street level, but across the skyline as well, with the addition of distinctive towers along what is quickly becoming the Avenue of Architecture.

It is no longer a secret that Eighth Avenue hosts the best of all worlds: from the razzle-dazzle of Times Square to the down-home hip of Hell’s Kitchen; from a world-class transportation network to the world-renowned eateries of Restaurant Row. Eighth Avenue, which historically embodied a transition between neighborhoods, is finding an identity of its own, thanks to the continued coordination between local government and the real estate industry as well as the businesses and residents of Times Square.

Eighth Avenue Action Plan

Sign of the Times: Eighth Avenue on the Rise is the result of a series of workshops that brought together local leaders, real estate brokers, architects, planners and Times Square constituents to discuss the future of the Eighth Avenue corridor. The plan analyzes existing conditions and offers a roadmap for quality of life improvements to shape the changes that have already begun to take place.

Eighth Avenue Arts

One component of our efforts to bring excitement, culture and people to Eighth Avenue is a public art initiative. Using vacant retail space as well as vacant building facades as a canvas, the Alliance partners with artists and local property owners to create a hub within our district for innovative design and art.  Find out about our most recent projects:
