Times Square Alliance

The Times Square Alliance (formerly the Times Square Business Improvement District), founded in 1992, works to improve and promote Times Square so that it retains the energy, edge and distinctiveness that have made it an icon for entertainment, culture and urban life for almost a century.  In addition to providing core services with 50 Public Safety Officers and 50 Sanitation associates, the Alliance promotes local businesses, co-coordinates numerous major events in Times Square like New Year’s Eve and Broadway on Broadway, manages an Information Center and advocates on behalf of its constituents with respect to a host of public policy, planning and quality-of-life issues.

The Alliance joined the Duffy Square revitalization efforts in 1999, and has remained active in the project ever since. The Alliance is helping to coordinate the design and construction process, and has also agreed to maintain the stairs and the plaza and provide security for the booth and the island.

Theater Development Fund

Theatre Development Fund has played a unique role in strengthening New York City's performing arts. Through its ticketing programs serving theatres from Broadway to Off-Off-Broadway, its Theatre Access Program for theatregoars with physical disabilities, its intensive arts education programs, and its Costume Collection, TDF has touched the lives of millions of New Yorkers and tourists who might not otherwise be able to enjoy the unique experience of live performance, filling over 67 million seats since 1968.

TDF is proud to be part of this project and is tremendously grateful to its Board of Trustees, led by David D. Holbrook, who have pledged close to half of our funding commitment of a minimum of one million dollars. It would also like to pay special tribute to Pia Lindstrom, TDF Trustee, and John Breglio, former TDF Board Chair, who are leading the fundraising efforts. Additionally, a special thanks to D. Kenneth Patton, TDF Trustee and a jury member for the competition. Finally, TDF thanks its corporate, foundation and individual donors who have pledged support to the project. A complete listing of TDF's Board and donors can be found at www.tdf.org.

The Coalition for Father Duffy

Comprised of members of New York's business and civic communities, as well as veterans and Irish organizations, the Coalition for Father Duffy was founded by the late General Jospeh A. Healey, former commanding General of the 69th Regiment. It is dedicated to honoring the memory of Father Francis Patrick Duffy, the highly decorated World War I hero and Chaplain for New York's 69th Regiment. The Coalition's mission is to spearhead and support the renovation and preservation of Father Duffy Square with its partners the Theater Development Fund and the Times Square Alliance, in collaboration with various New York City agencies.
