Vote on Design Icons at the Crossroads of the World
Times Square is all about making a statement. The Times Square Alliance invites you to make a statement of your own by voting for your favorite Times Square architecture and design.
Each year, an expert panel of architects, designers and planners reviews dozens of sites in the heart of Manhattan - including office towers, public spaces, storefronts, churches, theatres, restaurants, public art and illuminated signage - and selects the sites that best exemplify the neighborhood's creativity and energy.
Design Times Square celebrates quality design in Times Square, encourages businesses to invest in design, and demonstrates that good design is good for business.
"We hope that this program will lead people, especially those who care about design, to look at Times Square with fresh eyes," said Tim Tompkins, president of the Times Square Alliance.
In 2004, in honor of Times Square's Centennial, Design Times Square recognized a broad sampling of both new and old noteworthy design. In the years ahead, Design Times Square will focus only on recently created quality design, with less of a nod to historic or iconic elements.
Said Tompkins, "Next year, we will focus on excellence in more recent design that is part of the ever-changing landscape of Times Square. There, too, we will invite the public to vote, and in the process encourage people to explore and patronize the businesses that best capture the spirit of Times Square."
The Times Square Alliance invites you to tour the district and select your favorite spots and signs.
