THE 2009 TONY AWARDS WERE SIMULCAST LIVE IN TIMES SQUARE

 

Tony Awards Partnered with the Times Square Alliance to

 Simulcast Entirety of Show on the Clear Channel Spectacolor HD Screen in Times Square for First Time on Sunday, June 7th

 

The 63rd Annual Tony Award simulcast was one of the first events to take place in the newly re-designed Times Square.   The Tony Awards partnered with the Times Square Alliance to simulcast the entire Tony Awards program from Radio City Music Hall, to the Clear Channel Spectacolor Screen in Times Square, live on Sunday, June 7th from 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

 

The recently re-designed Times Square includes newly created pedestrian plazas on Broadway from 47th to 42nd Streets. The plazas will provide more than three acres of new public space, allowing seating for up to 2,000 fans in Duffy Square and the surrounding areas for the viewing.
